Redemption

(First, I don't know what's up with all my one word headers, but oh well).

Today, I got the great opportunity to play in an intramural basketball game. If you remember, just yesterday I talked about my "frustration" playing this game of basketball. Well, thanks to the Lincoln Loggers (I think that's the team name, sorry guys if it's not)... I got to redeem myself. My entire body still feels like someone took a bat to it, but nonetheless, I played better than the pick up games from yesterday.

P.S. Referring back to my Frustration entry, Fung was right. I blocked a dude. It's such a satisfying feeling :D

Respect

Topic at Hand: Marathon Runners (26.2 miles).

Today was the second time I went out to cheer on my good friend Carolyn. She ran her second marathon in super super cold weather (in the 30's). First of all, training for a marathon takes so much discipline. Secondly, to actually finish the whole 26+ miles and not quit in normal weather is beastly enough.

Did I mention how pathetic I was? Why you ask? Because I was complaining about how cold and sleepy I was! I really didn't want to miss Carolyn as she ran past these various mile markers, but it was super cold... and we were driving from mile marker to mile marker. At one point, it took us almost longer to find a parking spot... only to see her run by. (Great supporters, huh?)

It was neat too because there were different bands playing music to help cheer on the runners. There was also a duo who was playing the Olympic theme on some trumpets. It was really great.... but I was still cold and couldn't wait for Carolyn to run through the finish line.

Towards the finish line, there were people who ran through the end with their little kids. There were others who ran with a team of people and they crossed holding raised hands in victory. No matter if they sprinted through the finish line or barely trotted through, I felt so proud for all the runners. THEY FINISHED.

Kudos goes out to all those brave souls who braced the cold to finish what they set out to do.

Frustration

So in a previous post, I mentioned I was in the best shape of my life... especially to play some ball. I stand corrected. I wasn't expecting the cold gym air to sufficate my lungs and sting my ears. Furthermore, I didn't think I'd be so rusty as I dribbled around the court and took shots. There's nothing more frustrating (and I'm exaggerating) than not being able to do the things you used to do. Not that my skills were anything spectacular, but today was just not my day to ball. I should add that my body is completely achy. Nonetheless, I still wanna go ball tomorrow. *sigh* Welcome to adulthood!

1 out of 25, Part 2

I did not win the 50" HD, flatscreen TV.

The funny thing was that I know the guy who donated the TV. I didn't know it at the time, but he used to work at my Bank. Two weeks ago he took up another position with a different financial institution... but when they introduced him and his wife to thank their store for donating the TV, my jaw dropped.

WHY COULDN'T HE HOOK ME UP?!?!? Ah well, probably better I don't get the TV.

I Love This Game

I miss ballin' I miss it a lot. I'm probably in the best shape ever, post HS days, and can't even rough ppl up on the court. I think I will join some sort of "old foggie" league, not that I'm that old, but man... I just miss ballin.

1 out of 25!!!

KSBJ (a Christian radio station in Houston), is having a drawing for a 50-inch HD TV. The drawing will be held after the Superbowl half time show. All contestants and 4 guests get to watch the Superbowl on that very same HD TV.

There are 25 contestants and I am ONE OUT OF 25!!!! Cool, huh? I've been trying all week during work b/c they have specific times in which you call in, so I just listen during those times, but haven't been successful until today.

So here is what I had to do: They give you the address of a classic TV show. You have to be the 7th caller with the correct TV show to win.

My address was "1882 Gerard Street." Too bad when they announced it, I didn't know how to spell that, and I googled "TV Show: 1882 Gerald Street." To my dismay, I couldn't find a TV show at all. I selected the top link and did a CTRL + F for "Gerarl." --> No luck. Just then, while I was trying to hit the back button on my browser, my cell starts ringing. I'm thinking, "OMG OMG.... it's ringing... I NEED A TV SHOW... ANYTHING" I'm frantically trying to hit the back button so I can google another name, but Kelf's lappy froze. PRAISE GOD b/c right in front of my eyes is "1882 Gerard Street --> Joey, a comedian trying to make it on FULL HOUSE"

THAT WAS MY SHOW!!!!! FULL HOUSE :D

So, 1 1out of 25..... LET ME BE THE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
